Review of Jason Lives - Friday the 13th Part VI (1986) by Kenneth B — 01 Dec 2011

This is a relatively decent instalment although that still isn't exactly high praise. There is an element of parody throughout, particularly in the early stages. The James Bond gun barrel sequence is lampooned in the opening segments and there is self referential dialogue. Although lines like 'I've seen enough horror movies to know any weirdo wearing a mask is never friendly' isn't exactly subtle this was a good ten years before Wes Craven ventured into the realms of post-modern horror.

Jason Lives is actually quite funny, however most of the laughs come early on so it does revert to type and as a result it does become quite mundane experience in the end.
