Review of Jason Lives - Friday the 13th Part VI (1986) by Will G — 08 Dec 2007
The name of the camp has changed, but otherwise it's business as usual; the makers of this movie are so creatively bankrupt that they couldn't come up with a plot that diverts even slightly from the formula established in the previous five films.
This time, Jason's corpse is struck by lighting and revived; no such luck for the film, which drags itself lifelessly from one bloody set piece to another before collapsing beneath the weight of another 'surprise' ending.
It's not saying much, but this is one of the better entries in the series thanks to minor sparks of imagination in the death scenes (like a head punched through the wall of a mobile home), but that's a dubious recommendation and besides, the film's propensity for unfunny comedy and excruciating dialogue ("Aren't you the kid whose mother and friends were killed by that maniac?") more than balance out any entertainment value.
