Review of Jason Lives - Friday the 13th Part VI (1986) by Kevin R — 04 Nov 2012
Some folks have a strange idea of entertainment.
Tommy Jarvis from the last two Jason movies returns to the cemetery where Jason is buried to dig up his grave and confirm he is truly dead. In the process of digging up Jason lightening strikes the body and sparks Jason back to life. Jason returns to Crystal Lake, which has been renamed and reopened to campers. Can Tommy stop Jason before he goes on another murderous rampage?
"Jason belongs in hell and I'm gonna see that he gets there.".
Tom McLoughlin, director of Date with an Angel, One Dark Night, Fairy Tale: A True Story, Behind the Mask, and The Haunting of Helen Walker, delivers Friday the 13th VI: Jason Lives. The storyline for this movie is pretty bad as is the plot. The kill scenes are a step down from the previous two pictures and the acting is mediocre. The cast includes Thom Mathews, David Kagen, Renee Jones, Jennifer Cooke, and Darcy DeMoss.
"Darling, you're gonna be the death of me. What a way to go, huh?".
I recently DVR'd a Friday the 13th marathon off AMC and found this one to be the worst ones I've watched so far. The idea of Jason as "the walking dead" didn't work for me. The idea of keeping Tommy Jarvis in the plot was a good idea but the overall film falls a bit flat. There were a few good kill scenes but this delivers nothing new to the slasher genre.
"It's finally over. Jason is home.".
Grade: C -.
