Review of Jason Lives - Friday the 13th Part VI (1986) by Ryan H — 12 Apr 2018
Arguably better than the original, Jason Lives is undoubtedly the best sequel and probably the best film in the Friday the 13th franchise. All of the acting is solid. The premise may be cheesy, but the decision to make Jason Voorhees an undead killer was a good one, and the result is tense, suspenseful, gory, and even funny at times.
The meta humor is a welcome addition, especially when one character SPEAKS DIRECTLY TO THE AUDIENCE, along with new elements like car chases and cops that aren't completely inept. To top it all off, it also features one of the most brutal kills in the franchise, which I won't spoil (watch the movie).
This is the film that partially inspired Scream ten years later. Jason is dead. Long live Jason.
