Review of Jason Goes to Hell: The Final Friday (1993) by Erik O — 23 Jun 2008
I was completely prepared to give this film one star, maybe two, but it's actually a lot better than I remembered. I loved the humor, and the outlandish storyline. I'm glad that this wasn't the last film in the series, though, because Jason is only in it for 10 to 15 minutes, and the final "F13" movie would have to have a lot more Jason in it than that.
This is, arguably, the most fun I've ever had while watching a "Jason movie." I might have to change my mind, and start calling this film my favorite entry in the series. I can also understand why that whole Freddy vs.
Jason vs. Ash idea has been on the minds of the fans of this series; it turns out that the Necronomicon from the 'Evil Dead' films, is found by one of the characters in the Voorhees House. I've seen this film three or four times now, and this is the first time I noticed the Necronomicon's appearance.
Cool stuff. This film also contains, hands down, the best ending in the entire series. I won't ruin it, but suffice it to say that it successfully, and effectively, sets up the events of a future film.
