Review of Jason Goes to Hell: The Final Friday (1993) by Mark D — 20 Feb 2009
Takes itself more seriously than many of the Friday films (considering how lame it is), and also introduces a ridiculous "body-swapping" plot that turns Jason (or rather, the "spirit" of Jason) into a weird worm/snake thing that possesses various host bodies.
Jason himself (for the few scenes that he appears as the hockey-mask killer) looks like a hamburger-head. That being said, there's more gore here than in any other Friday film, but the problem is that, like Jason X, this doesn't FEEL like a film that belongs in this series.
This marks the point when New Line Cinema bought the rights to the Jason character from Paramount, and there's an obvious shift in tone. In the end, it's not something you really need to see, but it's not the worst thing that's ever happened.
