Review of Jason Goes to Hell: The Final Friday (1993) by Jon C — 23 Oct 2012
The stupidest installment in the entire 'Jason' series but really the most fun and the most gory of them all.
Seriously, the writers make some ridiculous mythology in the plot but 'Jason Goes to Hell' is a hell of a time to watch.
Jason gets killed in the opening and now since he is pure evil has to keep switching from human host to host in order to stay alive and be reborn with the help of a Vorhees relative.
I like the main characters in spite of the fact that they barely have time to be developed since everything moves so insanely fast.
But thankfully it adds to the body count as more carnage ensues.
There's even a funny in-joke that pokes fun at the horror genre and what the typical scenario is these days such as going camping out in the deserted woods, smoking, and having pre-marital sex before getting hacked off.
Nothing about this movie is redeemable but it is so much fun to laugh and cheer at.
And my favorite character has to be Duke the bounty hunter despite how hokey it is.
This is a fun, gross and bloody horror flick featuring the machete-weilding slasher icon.
