Review of Jason Goes to Hell: The Final Friday (1993) by Justin B — 08 Dec 2007
The last 'Friday the 13th' movie to feature the word 'final' in the title was followed by five more sequels, so no one was getting their hopes up at the time â?? and rightly so, for 'Jason X' and 'Freddy Vs.
Jason' (hinted at here) were still to come. The plot starts (and stops) with Jason's destruction at the hands of a SWAT team, but as usual being in several pieces barely slows him down and he embarks on another indiscriminate slaughter.
In a mild deviation from the formula, Jason this time hops from body to body as he goes on the rampage. Also in the mix is annoying hero John D. LeMay, labouring under the delusion that he's delivering a great performance as he helps bounty hunter Steven Williams, who knows the only way to kill Jason.
This is maybe the third or fourth only way to kill Jason that's cropped up so far in the series. Anyway, Adam Marcus's direction couldn't get any flatter, while the performances are all pretty poor â?? still, what's new?
