Review of Jason Goes to Hell: The Final Friday (1993) by Eliasib L — 28 Jan 2009
This sequel is obviously the goriest of all of them. The synopsis says Jason's origins are revealed however, that is far from true. You don't really find out why he continues to live and when they try to explain, it doesn't make much sense as Jason seriously did die in part 4.
It isn't explained at all how Jason is resurrected in the beginning, which is a good thing I suppose since the last 3 times he has been revived have been the stupidest explanations ever. The story is ok.
...nothing special & it's not that scary once again. The costume design is better, almost a mixture of part 7 (the best) & 2. Also, I guess they ignored the preceding movie as I have no idea how the hell Jason got back from a sewer in NYC to Crystal Lake.
In all the movies though Jason is similar to the 2 crooks in Home Alone. He gets the shit beat out of him at every turn. The Freddy claw dragging Jason's mask to hell is a nice touch at the end foreshadowing Freddy Vs.
Jason. even though that didn't come out til' a decade later. In complete as the last canonical Friday the 13th movie it 's not that bad, it's definitely a step up from the last one.
