Review of Jason Goes to Hell: The Final Friday (1993) by Scratch S — 26 May 2013
Always, always, always, always be forewarned whenever a franchise tells you that it's the FINAL ONE. Because it isn't and never will be. Hollywood just does that so they can get you to shell in a few bucks. The sucker is you unless you're smart enough not to believe it's the final one and want to see it anyway then by all means go for it! You won't be disappointed.
This one is the Friday the 13th series is more like a body snatchers type of movie with Jason's eel like evil is vomited into the mouths of his victims in order to pass along his evil doings into innocent people. What happened was that in the beginning of the film, Jason was led to a trap where he is blown to smithereens. His heart continues beating, but the coroner is hypnotized by it enough to devour Jason's heart and get it's evil powers. Therefore continuing the bloodshed of violence.
The motive for such a body snatcher flick is because, I think, to show Jason's supernatural origins. His super nature didn't get kicked into gear until Part 6, but here it's done to a much more interesting effect. In order for Jason to retake the form of what he once was he has to pass along his evil into a relative. Jason has a sister and a niece. Only through a Voorhees can Jason be reborn and with these victims continuing Jason's good work they try to find his sister and niece to be reborn!
I kind of liked this installment. It has some great moments of gore and an overlong sex scene (if you watch the unrated version). Also the ending was a great way to introduce the inevitability of a cross over film between Jason and Freddy. Still not bad.
