Review of Jason Bourne (2016) by Scott D — 22 Aug 2016
Jaosn Bourne is a fun movie and it is good to see Matt Damon reprising his role as Jason Bourne, or David Webb whichever you prefer, and it is good to see everyone else back doing their usual shtick. But, unfortunately thats this films greatest flaw and this franchise's greatest flaw it's repetitive almost to the point where you can predict every action, reaction and plot twist that it thows at you to point where you don't care.
Which is another flaw I didn't care. I mean I knew such and such was going to die and this and this was going to happen becuase this series is just retracing it's steps in the most obvious way possible and there's also no major reason why they're continuing to hunt down Jason Bourne when he's no longer an asset and I wish that they gave more of a reason why they were hunting him down instead of oh look its Bourne we must get him because we are the big bad government.
Which brings me to yet another flaw not only for this film but Legacy as well is that Legacy wasn't right because it didn't have the Greengrass talented direction, action and ways to set up heroes and in Jason Bourne it wasn't right because it was missing Gilroy's exposition, thrills and dialogue and I know the reason why this is happening is because they both don't really see eye to eye, but, I hate to break it to them, they need both sides of the coin to make a solid Bourne flick (not that these two were terrible or anything), that's why the original trilogy was so good and also they had a reason to exist ehile these two really don't especially Legacy.
But, in the end Jason Bourne is still a pretty good time simply due to great performances and riveting action scenes.
