Review of Jason Bourne (2016) by Akarmu — 03 Aug 2016
I don't know whether it's a problem with the reviewers or the aggregators, but Jason Bourne got a bum rap for no reason. The movie is excellent: propulsive, kinetic action; the same quiet, resourceful Bourne at the center; thrillingly filmed; perfect grown up summer entertainment.
Performances are uniformly solid, although a couple of the accents seem out of place (Vikander's and Cassel's). Damon is still awesome as Bourne; and Tommy Lee Jones always makes a good bad guy. The movie is infinitely better than the dreary new Star Trek that gets far higher marks both here and on Rotten Tomatoes.
I made the mistake of trusting the scores and went to see Star Trek last week. Luckily, I found the time to go see this today. A much better choice.
