With so much The Kingdom above us, Mendes' anti-war flick was refresing, and at the same time it left audiences empty; the same problem happened with Three Kings and Tigerland: unconventional in their style, but reiterative and aimless in their course. Despite that, this surpassed any flick mentioned in this brief comment. Seems like Full Metal Jacket won't be beaten, and that was far from being Kubrick's best.
