Review of Jane Eyre (2011) by Vivian M — 12 Sep 2011
I've not read or seen any version, so I went in with a fresh mind. While I did like the story and the film itself, I think it suffers from the time limitation. The director was able to capture each important arc, but it also suffers from having to fit everything within a two hour film.
However, the music and the cinematography fit so well together. I also don't know if it was intended, either by the original Brontë novel or the screenwriter, but the wordplay between Jane and Rochester was hilarious.
In the end, I just can't help but think that if it were a miniseries instead, it would have been such a greater adaptation.
