The best adaptation compared to others made for cinema (e.g. 1934, 1943, 1970 and 1996) plus the TV-film 1997 and one-hour TV theatre from 1949 and 1957. I would say I prefer it to the BBC mini series from 2006, although I reluctantly compare them because of he difference in screen time.
IMHO it does not reach up to the level of the BBC mini series from 1983 and, especially, 1973 which is my favourite.
