Review of Jane Eyre (2011) by Andrew H — 29 Oct 2011
Despite the fact that this sometimes becomes enraptured with its own historical accuracy (wasn't 18th Century England so /quaint/? etc.) this is so thoroughly enchanting that I soon forgave it these minor indiscretions and suspended disbelief totally.
I was rewarded. Why is it so successful? The photography is beautiful (thanks to some phenomenal light) the performances suitably gothic, and the script takes as much from the novel as possible.
