Review of Jane Eyre (2011) by Doug Z — 22 Nov 2011

I've not read the book, but after seeing such a great movie adaptation I'm very interested in doing so. Lavish production values, excellent casting, moving performances.. The setting and the cinematography perfectly convey the dark, brooding tone of the film.

If I had one quibble, it would be that events feel rushed. I realise that things are neccesarily condensed when adapting anything like a large novel to the screen, but even so I think had they not been so overzealous in the editing room, there would have been a better sense of the passage of time.

Then again, it may be another rare case of my not wanting a movie to end.. Thumbs way up!
