Review of Jane Eyre (2011) by Wendy S — 17 Nov 2012
It has been a few years sicne I've read Bronte's "Jane Eyre" and I never watched a film adaptation of the book until now. The actors and book obviously are what drew me to the movie. Mia W.
brings Jane Eyre's pain and intellect and story to life very well. She is transformed from what we saw in 'Alice'. I think she nails it when it comes to the scene between her and Michael Fassbender by the tree.
Her dialogue and emotional protrayal were beautifully done. Fassbender stands his own with her because he is charming and tragically scarred and strong. The entire tone of the film and pacing is beautiful and just like the story, Rochester's story is a gothic tragedy.
Jane is a strong woman and intelligent during a time when a woman was seen no more than a painting without any real use. Well done film.
