I liked this. I found Mia Wasikowska a homely but intelligent Jane. Although Michel Fassenbender may or may not be good-looking, he offered the wound licking Rochester that ought to be and not the disastrous representation Toby Stephens gave television audiences a few years back.

The costume design stole the show, however. I wondered whether the actresses had fun wearing the dresses. The use of gray was wonderful.

I just wish I knew what it is that Jane sees in Rochester.
