Review of James Dean: Forever Young (2005) by Mike T — 21 Oct 2009
Essentially, this documentary only charts the icon's professional career, but it has enough going for it to make it worth a viewing. James Dean was one of the men who permanently altered cinema acting, along with his idol Marlon Brando and Montgomery Clift.
As an admirer of his work, I found it interesting to see how he broke into the business. I would have liked to see more of a biography, but it works well for what it is. There is some amazing rare footage in this film, including a screen test for East of Eden with Dean and Paul Newman.
