Review of Jakob the Liar (1999) by Stephan B — 10 Apr 2013
I don't understand the bad press. Does every Holocaust film need to be somber? Yes, it's somewhat predictable and nearly ruined by Liev Schreiber's slapstick schtick, but it's also tender and nuanced and tells a tale worth telling, about the power of hope to uplift and also destroy.
Not perfect, but definitely worth seeing.
