Review of Jailhouse Rock (1957) by Jacy D — 22 Oct 2005
Although not an original and engaging story, 'Jailhouse Rock' does manage to entertain through its musical scores. However, it has nothing else much to offer, being a bland movie.
'Jailhouse Rock' follows Vince through to jail where he learns how to sing and play guitar; he then becomes a star upon returning to the real world. This story follows his ups and downs in business and in romance.
Unless you are really into Elvis, I really wouldn't recommend this film. It was made for Elvis fans, and the highlights are the tracks that Elvis sings throughout. As a movie or as a story, it doesn't offer anything more. Elvis steals the show, even above the female actresses. Overall, as a movie, it is bland. As an Elvis movie, Elvis fans will enjoy it.
