Review of Jacob's Ladder (1990) by Ben C — 19 Nov 2008
A fascinating, smart psychological thriller. It seamlessly transitions between being frightening, sweet, philosophical, horrifying and sexy (the latter mostly due to Ms. Pena). And, it manages to do all this while being fully engrossing and nothing about it feels cheap or clichéd.
About the only thing that didn't feel right about this movie is the epilogue. That seemed completely tacked on as if some focus group suggested it would help audiences understand what had just happened.
