Review of Jacob's Ladder (1990) by Jacob D — 25 Feb 2009
Despite some particularly bad acting at the beginning, Tim Robbins delivers full-on and I only wish Ving Rhames had had a bigger part. Nonetheless, early on JACOB'S LADDER taunts you with some psychological horror that'll send shivers down your spine--much like THE RING and THE GRUDGE may have done for you weaker spirits, only more genuinely without CGI only stop-animation and quick cuts of images.
Still, you'll have enough time to breath and try to grasp the reason behind it all, which leads to a somewhat unsettling yet somehow satisfactory ending. Oh yeah, and Elizabeth Pena is smoking hot.
