Review of Jacob's Ladder (1990) by Matt B — 22 Mar 2010
Psychological thriller starring Tim Robbins as a Vietnam veteran who is haunted by vivid dreams and hallucinations relating to his past.
One of those films that keeps you thinking throughout, and you will understand 10 minutes after it ends. Will undoubtedly improve with repeat viewings.
Lots of connotive religious iconography coupled with an uncomfortable and far from simple narrative structure, forcing the viewer to keep on their toes for the duration.
A solid performance from Tim Robbins in one of his less talked about roles.
