Review of Jackie Brown (1997) by Jeremy H — 24 Jul 2013
Eschewing the showiness of Pulp Fiction, Tarantino takes Elmore Leonard's story and gives it his personality. It's a marriage made in cinematic heaven. It's Tarantino's most mature, assured work and one that benefits with repeat viewings.
There's not a weak scene or uninteresting character. This, I would argue, is Tarantino's masterpiece. Pulp Fiction may be more influential, more celebrated, but this is the better film.
