Review of Jackie Brown (1997) by Wells H — 29 Dec 2012
Let me be perfectly honest right here. I have seen all of Quentin Tarantino's movies, and in my opinion, this is the worst. (Aside from Death Proof, but that wasn't really a movie, if you ask me) Don't get me wrong, it still is a good movie, but compared to other Tarantino classics, this one just doesn't stand up.
How are we supposed to watch this without comparing it to Pulp Fiction, which was released 3 years before this? I don't think that's possible. The good news is, Robert De Niro and Samuel L. Jackson are in this movie, and while Samuel L.
Jackson is fantastic in his role as Ordell Robbie, Robert De Niro as Louis Gara, Ordell's old buddie, seems like a blatant waste of De Niro's obvious talents. Let me sum up Robert De Niro's role in one sentence, all he does is watch TV, and smoke pot out of a bong.
Honestly, that's about it. I have to admit though, "The Exchange" scene is pretty cool.
