Vaguely underrapreciated by the public because it dared to not be a pulp fiction copycat, this is well woven and explores a different gamut of styles form Tarantino while maintaining some of the esthetic staples that conctributed to solidify his image.
These caracters are not that flamboyant but their brutal downt to earthness is filmed in a way that makes them look huge. The use of multi point of view story telling helps to layer the plot and adance it more than a single angle could have had.
And the use of bland settings is perfect so we can just focus on the twists and turns.
