Review of Jackie Brown (1997) by Brett H — 07 Nov 2013
While it's undoubtedly a solid film with great Tarantino situations based around blacksploitation, the story isn't as gripping as you hope it would be and I found it could've been trimmed to 2 hours.
Samuel L. Jackson is fantastic here and it is definitely weird seeing De Niro play a bumbling idiot type; the rest of the cast doing fine work as well. It's Tarantino's only work that is based off a novel and not his original work, which is where I think it's shortcomings stem from.
