Review of Jackie Brown (1997) by Matthew H — 08 Mar 2014
Once you are over the fact that this doesn't take Tarntino's usual "violence as a foundation" rule found in Reservoir Dogs, Pulp Fiction and Kill Bill 1 & 2, Jackie Brown is actually a very good movie.
Pam Grier is great as the title character, a stewardess working for Samuel L Jackson's gun runner as a money smuggler and the ensemble cast do well too. Standing out, for me are Robert De Niro, in one of his funniest roles and Bridget Fonda as the sexiest stoned out beach bunny ever! Michael Keaton also puts in a solid performance as the police officer tracking Samuel L Jackson down.
Jackie Brown is an intelligent crime caper that you will want to see again.
