Review of Jackie (2016) by Jason M — 12 Dec 2016
I was so enthralled by Natalie Portman's every move the first time I saw this at TIFF that it was only on the 2nd go round this week that my problems with it surfaced, mainly that it ought to be told the way "The Queen" was instead of the fragmented way "The Iron Lady" played.
This moves in fits and starts when a tight, moment-to-moment account of Jackie Kennedy that week would have given this the tension it deserves. There may be no better Jackie performance ever than this one, though.
