Review of Jackie (2016) by Fernando H — 26 Jan 2017
Jackie has an excellent lead performance. Other than that, it doesn't have anything extraordinary to offer. Natalie Portman is amazing as Jackie Kennedy. She shines in this entire movie. I liked Billy Crudup in his role.
Peter Sarsgaard was overshadowed by Portman in every scene he was in. He didn't really impress me. The film is very unconventional, which I liked for the most part. The film doesn't delve in her whole life.
It only focuses on the days after the assassination. Kennedy's character isn't really humanized. You don't really care about her. If it wasn't for Portman, I really would've disliked her character.
Also, the film has some major pacing issues. It is only 100 minutes but it feels like 300. It is very, very slow. Overall, the performance impressed me more than the film itself. While I can give this a positive review, I was disappointed.
The film was well made and well shot, but was just boring.
