Review of Jackie (2016) by Tom E — 10 Feb 2017

I wasn't planning on seeing this because the trailers looked sentimental, but the Oscar nominations changed my mind. It's a difficult but interesting character study that reveals the shrewdness of Jacqueline Kennedy, as well as what she may have experienced in the minutes and hours after her husband's death.

The flashes back to even earlier moments in the White House, and her interview with a journalist a couple weeks after the assassination, give it a good balance and contribute to what feels like a comprehensive interpretation of a first lady over a brief period of time.
