Review of Jackie (2016) by Christy S — 11 Mar 2017
Jackie succeeds in many aspects, namely being a character piece for this complex First Lady. The film is an acting tour-de-force for Natalie Portman, meaning it can lose some of its purpose as an overall story.
The perspective of a analysed moment in history is something to respect and appreciate for its decisions to not follow conformity and cliches. Pablo Larrain's vintage film style and combination with real life footage coupled with its snippets at other interesting moments within this week from the past make it seem Jackie would work best of all as a mini series with more time to flesh out other characters.
