Review of Jackie (2016) by Todd C — 22 Feb 2017
Portman gives a too-modern interpretation of Jackie that doesn't recognize that part of Jackie's charm was her impenetrable, always perfect façade, based on layer after layer of carefully crafted manners, class, poise and a fierce commitment to remain hidden.
I kept waiting to see the Jackie I knew from film footage and photos, but instead I saw an interpretation of Jackie with all those essential layers stripped away in a way that felt inauthentic, unearned, and in the end merely neurotic.
