Review of Jackie (2016) by Jeremy C — 14 Dec 2016
Oy. What a dreadful film. Billy Crudup and John Hurt come out okay, but...the poor woman had her husband murdered as he sat next to her, so does she really need a bio-pic that lambasts her as a petty, none-too-bright, poseur? She may have been, but I don't see the point of throwing darts at her from this distance.
Portman did a decent job of sounding like her, but her smoking is hilariously bad - she holds the cigarette as if she had no idea which end was which. Also, it's odd that they found look-alikes for LBJ, JFK and Lady Bird, but cast Peter Sarsgaard as Bobby Kennedy.
He looks (and sounds) nothing like him, despite the wig. Skip this one.
