Review of Jackass Presents: Bad Grandpa (2013) by Mads D — 07 Feb 2014
Easily the comedy of the year (2013). While some disagree with that statement, it is still heavily noted by most. I can see this film being referenced to for years to come and rightfully receiving "instant classic" status.
While I'm a fanboy of the Jackass franchise, after the 3rd installment I was more than ready for them to hang their hat up on the series. Thank God they didn't, because this is an entirely different film from the previous entries.
There's an actual storyline backbone to all the toliet humor and crude stunts performed by Knoxville. The boy was an excellent casting choice and sold his part flawlessly. The duo was paired perfectly in this cross-counrty adventure that captures real reactions from real people.
The reactions and expressions on the innocent bystanders faces are priceless and remind me of some the classic elements from the original Jackass tv series before the films became more about nut smashing and self mutilation.
Lots of jaw dropping moments and a thirst quencher for any shock value junkie. I have high hopes this film will gain more traction as more skeptics finally cave in and watch it.
