Review of Jackass Presents: Bad Grandpa (2013) by Alexandra G — 13 Aug 2014
I have never watched Jackass in its TV form nor in its movie form. I am never interested in watching anything that would hurt themselves just for the sake of entertainment but after watching the trailer I decided to watch the movie.
I am impressed how the plot is flowed with reality situations that would require the actors to improvise. It felt real but at the same time there is a plot right there.
I am impressed with the performance of Johnny Knoxville and Jackson Nicoll. They're natural improvisers while Johnny Knoxville did a good job portraying an old man.
Since this is Jackass, stunts are to be expected. The stunts did not look extreme as I thought. Maybe it's because we already knew it's fake but I am pretty sure they wanted to do more dangerous stunts if only they're relevant to the script.
As for the humor, it's very funny and crude but at the same time, it looked like they're trying too hard to make it funny. But let's admit that the old man's dick stuck in a vendor machine and the grandpa in the male strippers club were classics.
I am relieved that during the credits, the non-actors were informed that they're shooting a movie because I would feel bad if they were not aware what was going on until they seen the actual movie. I praise their sense of humor in participating in this movie.
Overall, it's not something I would watch again unless my friends want to. It's better to see this movie with friends generally. If you're a fan of Jackass, this movie is something you would want to watch right away if you're into that sort of thing.
