Review of Jackass Presents: Bad Grandpa (2013) by John P — 13 Jun 2015
Man, who knew that when you turn eighty women just let you get away with almost anything. You can go to a club with your nut-sack hanging out and all they really say is, "Aww, he's so cute and crazy." I'm back folk from my moth long hiatus and I do apologize for it. Mostly because I have been getting things squared away with my personal stuff. Anyway that's enough about me, time to review this film which I have neglected to see when it first came out up until yesterday. So apparently there are no more Jackass feature films anymore and the production company needed to find a way to cash in on something else. "Why not a spinoff of a fake character starring Johnny Knoxville?" Said one of the producers and that is where we get Bad Grandpa. The general plot of this is that Johnny Knoxville plays 86-year-old Irving whose deadbeat daughter gives him her son to keep and now he has to bring the little boy to his father's house. They go across country in order to do so while getting involved with a lot of crazy antics along the way. Was this this film worth watching after I neglected to see it, much like the little boy, after nearly two years?
This film is pretty much shock comedy, that's it. Where he goes around, doing all of these crazy things, and getting reactions from actual real-life people who don't know that they are on camera. But the stuff he gets into are the exact kind of things where you would go to jail or get your ass kicked. I found it funny that this movie needed a narrative at all because, in an interview, Johnny Knoxville say that there is a plot to this. And I am scratching my head saying to myself, "There is?" It does not have the satirical edge that Borat does or daring the Jackass actors would do. But if you like a movie where it is an old man falling over and messing with people then it is funny. Straight up just Candid Camera the movie is what it is. The kid in here made me laugh at times whenever he is onscreen. I know that in this day and age we have Youtube and Vine videos to get crazy shit and real reactions from real people almost every single day and that's what I feel what losses most of its strength in here. I'm not saying that it is a bad movie, but if you happen to see this available at your local Redbox or Netflix then by all mean take a look. It is just a standard three out of five stars.
