Review of Jackass Presents: Bad Grandpa (2013) by Allan C — 06 Jul 2015
The Jackass team abandoned their usual format of documenting their series of increasingly dangerous stunts and unconnected Candid Camera moments. This time they go the route of "Borat" and introduce a simple road film narrative (Johnny Knoxville plays the titular grandpa who is delivering his grandson to his deadbeat father) which then leads to a number of hit or miss gags involving Knoxville's old man character, 86-year-old Irving Zisman, and the boy a lot of Man Show Boy type of set ups.
The ones that work are hilarious, but there aren't enough to make this as good as the Jackass show or films, which had a manic energy from entire Jackass team, which this film was missing. Still, it's entertaining and worth checking out if you're a fan.
