Review of Jackass Number Two (2006) by Kyle M — 05 Jan 2014
Full confession. I didn't actually watch this film in one sitting and actually watched it in short bursts over a couple weeks, which made the experience more like watching a series of excellent viral videos.
Taken on that level, the film is hilariously brilliant. Although the film is simply a compilation of clips involving a group of man-children performing unsafe stunts, hurting themselves and pulling prank that hurt one another, it is none the less like nothing else on TV or movies and is quite simply hysterical.
There are plenty of YouTube videos of people doing lame brain stunts, but the Jackass group separate themselves from the rest of the herd by coming up with clever students, but more importantly by have such a fun time doing it that it's infectious to watch and the audience almost feels like they are part of the group and are in on the jokes they pull on each other.
It's not cinema, but it's pretty darn entertaining. Four stars for sheer entertainment value.
