Review of Jack the Giant Slayer (2013) by Leon B — 27 Sep 2013
Review:
This movie does look impressive, but the casting was terrible, along with the corny storyline. I was expecting something amazing, but as usual I got let down and I lost interest. I did like the look of the giants and some of the fighting scenes were done extremely well, but I didn't really care for any of the characters which just made the movie drag. Medieval movies in the genre only really work when they have a touch of wit, which this movie has none, and the whole background story was quite boring. Visually, you can't fault it but that's about it. Watchable!
Round-Up:
This movie was lucky to, just about, break even because you can tell that there was a lot of work put into it. The attention to detail was great, which must make this movie look amazing in 3D, but you end up just wanting to see the giants more than the main characters. There isn't much chemistry between each character so the whole emotional element is missing. It must have been hard for the actors because there is a lot of green screen work, were there acting without anything being there, so I do credit them for that. It's not n the league of the Game Of Thrones, but it's worth watching just for the CGI.
Budget: $195million (WOW!).
Worldwide Gross: $198million.
I recommend this movie to people who like there human against giants type of fairy tales. 4/10.
