Review of Jack the Giant Slayer (2013) by Alegra L — 14 Feb 2014

The movie has great effects (excellent!) and a clever, well written plot. The problem that many people and critics probably had with the film is that it is based on a children's story (jack and the beanstalk) so parents would take their 8-11 year old kids to this only to be shocked to find how mature, violent, and disturbing this film can be.

And Jack the giant slayer doesnt sound like the ideal kind of movie night film for adults either. So it was hard for this film to be successful because it didn't have a target audience.

I thought it was a great little film; it was just a little confused about what age group it was trying to reach for.
