Review of Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit (2014) by Tariq H — 22 Jun 2014
I was feeling some excitement in anticipation of this reboot of the Jack Ryan franchise, but sadly that excitement was a little misplaced. While this spy flick is completely watchable, it is lacking in any real film making originality.
It has your standard car chases, data stealing and transfers, damsel in distress, and terrorists but doesn't deliver exciting plot twists or high tech wow moments. I really didn't feel the onscreen chemistry between Pine and Knightley until very late in the film either.
It's a completely watchable thriller but you won't walk away with anything new after watching it.
