While the plot is bonkers and there are some unnecessary scenes and characters, Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit's action and cinematography topped off by a deliciously hammy and menacing performance by Director/Actor Kenneth Branagh act as a sort of compensation. Just don't expect The Hunt for Red October.
