Not the quality of the One Shot adaptation, in fact this is probably one of the worst books to bring to the screen. I think they did this because they wanted to give the character some family, something more than what makes the Jack Reacher books good.
I would have much preferred they had adapted the last novel Make Me and kept the R rating. It's a testament to Cruise that, even though I love the books, I can accept him in the role.
