You might not notice the lack of depth in this well-acted thriller based on a book by Lee Child, but that's the point. Due to the overwhelming commercialism of the source material, the action lends itself well to the screen.

Though, for an action movie, the gun fights are sparsely laid throughout. The film fails when it relies too much on its character development and plot, but it also shines through the performances of Tom Cruise, Colbie Smulders and newcomer Danika Yarosh.

The three provide legitimacy to an otherwise monotonous escapade through action tropes and cliche.
