Review of Jack Reacher: Never Go Back (2016) by Brian E — 23 Oct 2016
I was underwhelmed by the first Jack Reacher film. It had nothing going for it. I actually like this sequel better because there were higher stakes, a crime that made sense and wasn't ridiculous or tough to follow.
There are few surprises in this movie, and honestly the chemistry between the two leads was a bit forced. The emotional aspect of discovering and having to protect a daughter actually added something to the movie.
Nothing in this movie worked out other than the way I expected it. This isn't Tom's showiest vehicle, but its a vehicle that at least looks like it was properly oiled and cleaned before being put out on the show floor.
I agree though that some of the New Orleans segments really relegated the city much too far into the backdrop..
