Review of Jack Reacher: Never Go Back (2016) by Tim W — 03 Sep 2018
Anyone who has read the Lee Child novels has waited for these films with baited breath. Unfortinately, the key elements that make books so gpod - the crusader element, the plot detail, Reacher's physical presence and build - the bits that made someone buy the film rights in the first place, are all absent here.
Consequently, it is just a pedestrian action thriller. Although, given the absence of thrills, the piss poor details and the pedestrian acting combined with the miscast (and oddly below par) Cruise, it's actually a disaster.
The character of Reacher is that of a righteous man you want on your side. Cruise plays him like a man you wouldn't ask for change. Tje whole franchise needs a reboot and someone needs to get on the blower to Hugh Jackman.
Now he would be a man you'd want in your corner.
