"Jack Reacher'' is a crime film about an ex cop/ex marine who is brought on to investigate a sniper shooting. The film is about him putting the pieces together to solve the "mystery''. Richard Jenkins is in here for maybe a total running time of about 5 minutes. Rosamund Pike is gorgeous as always and does a solid job. The kid in "Die Hard 5'' was in this. That aromatically made this film loose points. That kid is awful.

Let me start by saying I like Tom Cruise. He can really act when pushed. In this however, he is just plain lazy. He doesn't even attempt to give a convincing performance. He just casually acts his way through like its just another day at work. The other actors and actresses do okay.

Let's get into the logistics. This film is poorly written and lacks suspense. That's really the only main problem with it. The dialogue is laughable. I mean every word Cruise says is a cheesy cliché one liner. There is no suspense, tension, or surprises whatsoever. Almost everything is completely predictable. This film would have benefited better if the villain hadn't been revealed until later on in the film instead of the VERY beginning.

In the end "Jack Reacher'' has briefly good action scenes and briefly decent acting, but it lacks any tension and is not clever. It failed to engage my brain, which is something I want in a crime or thriller movie. It had random characters and disappointing villains. Cruise you can do better!
